Who am I, anyway?

A woman – Rain Lyall – with short hair, glasses, and a nose ring, outdoors in a park, wearing a patterned vest over a black shirt.

Hi, I’m Rain Lyall, an experienced Brand & Creative Designer & Consultant – and founder of Make It Rain Creative. I thrive on blending creativity and strategy to create meaningful work – projects that connect with people, solve tricky problems, and deliver both impact and style.

I decided to become a designer at 14 and began my professional career at 17, after a chance encounter at Salamanca Market led to my first full-time role. Since then, I’ve grown from a junior designer making coffees and hanging out of a first-storey window with a squeegee, to art-directing shoots and delivering branding and communication campaigns for national and international clients – including Aussie icons like James Boag's, Bundaberg, Blundstone and Penfolds, as well as global names like Universal Music Group and Johnnie Walker.

My love for design and communication has remained constant. Whether developing brand identities, campaign materials, environmental graphics, retouching, or creating bespoke illustrations, I ensure my work is strategic, visually compelling, and speaks to the right audience.

With over 30 years’ experience, I have delivered communications across print, digital, social media, and web platforms – from concept through to production – including branding, campaign materials, large-format wayfinding and place-making projects, promotional collateral, newsletters, and reports.

Over the years, I’ve worked with local, national and international organisations to create brands and communications that are clear, consistent, and genuinely useful to their audiences.

I enjoy collaborating with stakeholders, contractors, and teams to achieve high-quality outcomes that are clear, engaging, and on-brand.

I’d love to see what positive difference I could make to your organisation’s brand – let’s have a chat!
