Who am I, anyway?
Hi, I’m Rain Lyall, an experienced Brand & Creative Designer & Consultant – and founder of Make It Rain Creative. I thrive on blending creativity and strategy to create meaningful work – projects that connect with people, solve tricky problems, and deliver both impact and style.
I decided to become a designer at 14 and began my professional career at 17, after a chance encounter at Salamanca Market led to my first full-time role. Since then, I’ve grown from a junior designer making coffees and hanging out of a first-storey window with a squeegee, to art-directing shoots and delivering branding and communication campaigns for national and international clients – including Aussie icons like James Boag's, Bundaberg, Blundstone and Penfolds, as well as global names like Universal Music Group and Johnnie Walker.
My love for design hasn’t wavered in over 30 years – which either says something about passion, or stubbornness, probably both. Whether I’m developing a brand identity, directing a shoot, creating environmental graphics, or hand-crafting an illustration, the goal is always the same: work that’s strategic, visually compelling, and right for the people it’s talking to.
I’ve delivered communications across print, digital, social, and web – from concept through to production – including branding, campaign materials, large-format wayfinding, place-making projects, promotional collateral, reports, and more. Local clients, national brands, international names. The scale changes; the care doesn’t.
I enjoy collaborating with stakeholders, contractors, and teams to achieve high-quality outcomes that are clear, engaging, and on-brand.
I’d love to see what positive difference I could make to your organisation’s brand – let’s have a chat!
